KCSU: An Ending Always Brings About A New Beginning
Since the early 1990s, KCSU, the 10,000 watt student-run campus radio station on the Colorado State University, has occupied a very strange space in the Lory Student Center. However, the space that has come to define KSCU for several decades is changing. The beginning of 2013 initiated construction and renovations to the Lory Student Center. While the renovation is much needed, it is forcing KCSU to relocate to a new space off campus for the entire 2013-2014 academic school year. Sensing an impending change in the culture of KCSU, I took it as my opportunity to document KCSU in it's current space and the staff's transition out of the Lory Student Center. The staff have diligently worked to raise funds in order to purchase new in-studio performance equipment once the station returns to the LSC in the fall of 2014. I was fascinated by the drive found in these students who worked to ensure that up-to-date functioning equipment would be a reality for the station long after they've departed from the University. For the last 10 weeks or so I have attempted to photograph the existing KCSU culture and it's inhabitants... as it will never be quite the same. All rights reserved.
